One exclusive feature of the latest Pixel 11 series is Rambler mode in Gboard. It’s an AI-powered voice-to-text feature that turns your natural-language speech into a clean, polished version in real-time. A lot has already been said about it, and going by the reactions, it definitely seems to be a fan favorite. If you’re looking to try it yourself, the feature is currently exclusive to the Pixel 11 models. That said, we now seem to have an alternative of sorts. SwiftKey app is bringing its own version of the Google Rambler feature.
SwiftKey brings its own take on Google’s Rambler feature
The latest beta (v9.13.16.4) of SwiftKey on Android reportedly includes a new “AI voice” mode. It’s reportedly an upgraded version of Microsoft SwiftKey’s dictation feature and can be enabled from the microphone icon. It’s also close to what Rambler mode in Gboard offers. If you’re setting it up for the first time, SwiftKey downloads the AI voice model onto your phone.
The feature reportedly processes everything locally instead of sending the voice data to the cloud. That’s great news for privacy-conscious users. In SwiftKey’s version, when you tap the voice-to-text icon, it starts listening for your voice. Reports say that you can dictate long messages and it’ll clean the speech (like removing pauses like “um”).
Widely rolling out in beta
Much like Rambler, it reportedly doesn’t show your words in real-time. Instead, it waits until you finish speaking, processes it, and then presents what you’ve said. While it’s apparently quick, it’s not as instant as Rambler. It automatically adds punctuation and cleans up your transcription.
That said, there are certain limitations. For instance, SwiftKey’s AI voice can’t rewrite or adjust the tone and style of the dictated text. Rambler lets you quickly edit your words by voice or add emojis. SwiftKey’s AI Voice can’t do any of that right now. It’s simply a voice-to-text tool that cleans up and formats longer messages.
AI Voice is rolling out widely in the beta version of SwiftKey for Android. It’s also reportedly appearing on several devices and currently only supports English.
