The San Antonio City Council voted to allocate $60 million toward purchasing a site for a new San Antonio Spurs arena. $115 million is needed to buy all of the land for the sports complex. The land is the former site of the Institute of Texan Cultures at Hemisfair. The deal is expected to close by the end of the year.
The Spurs are planning to build a 17,000- to 18,000-seat arena in Downtown San Antonio, Texas, which will be ready in time for the 2030-31Â NBAÂ season.
Mortenson and Bartlett Cocke will work together to lead construction management for the new Spurs arena, combining Mortenson’s national sports and entertainment expertise with Bartlett Cocke’s more than six decades of experience building in San Antonio and across Texas.
Mortenson’s recently completed and in-progress projects include Chase Center (Golden State Warriors), Allegiant Stadium (Las Vegas Raiders), Energizer Park (St. Louis CITY SC), Climate Pledge Arena (Seattle Kraken), U.S. Bank Stadium (Minnesota Vikings), Continental Coliseum (Oklahoma City Thunder) and Athletics Ballpark (Las Vegas Athletics).
