But on the bright side, the company is aware of this and will fix it shortly.
A bug in Samsung’s One Hand Operation Plus Good Lock module is breaking Edge Panels
According to a complaint on Samsung’s community forum, swipe gestures no longer activate the Edge Panel on their Galaxy device. The user notes that toggling the Edge Panel on and off fixes the issue, but it reportedly resurfaces again after some time. A Samsung community moderator has acknowledged the bug and confirmed it stems from the One Hand Operation Plus “incorrectly recognizing” the Edge Panel’s target area on the home screen. This is apparently making it impossible to trigger the Edge Panel.
For those unaware, the One Hand Operation Plus Good Lock module lets Galaxy users assign swipe gestures to common actions. These gestures can be used to open apps or perform certain tasks. Ideally, the Edge Panel should take priority over the One Hand Operation Plus gesture. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case, going by user complaints.
There are temporary workarounds
The moderator recommends a temporary workaround. They suggest rotating the screen vertically or horizontally while in an app that supports screen rotation, and then returning to the home screen. Or you could try to change the One Hand Operation Plus gesture trigger area so that it does not overlap with the Edge Panel. You can also disable One Hand Operation Plus entirely to get the Edge Panel working again. However, that’s not an ideal solution if you regularly use both features together.
The bug seems to be affecting all Galaxy phones, whether they’re running One UI 8 or One UI 9. The Samsung community moderator did confirm that the issue will be fixed with the next One Hand Operation Plus update. But hasn’t given out a clear timeline at the moment. So if you’re facing the issue, you can try these temporary workarounds until a fix is available.
