Samsung is busy rolling out its latest batch of foldable hardware. The preorder stage for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 8 is still on. Meanwhile, software developers are already looking well into the future. Fresh findings on Samsung’s servers reveal that early testing for One UI 9.5 has officially kicked off for next year’s flagship line. At the same time, newly shipped foldables are picking up their very first post-launch software update.
Early One UI 9.5 testing for the Galaxy S27 Ultra
First spotted by leaker Fahad Ali Javed on X, an early build string (S958USQU0AZH3) linked to the US variant of the unreleased Galaxy S27 Ultra has surfaced online. The leak does not reveal a feature changelog, screenshots, or UI tweaks. However, it serves as clear evidence that Samsung is keeping its accelerated development timeline intact. Based on Android 17, One UI 9.5 will officially launch alongside the Galaxy S27 lineup in early 2027.
Interestingly, rumors surrounding next year’s release suggest Samsung might expand the lineup to four distinct phones. More specifically, the Galaxy S27 family would include base, Plus, Pro and Ultra models.
Power users expecting a public beta test will need to wait a bit longer, however. A public One UI 9.5 beta program is not expected to open until late 2026. It could start with current-generation Galaxy S26 devices before expanding to additional hardware.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 get a maintenance patch
Meanwhile, buyers unboxing the new Galaxy Z Fold 8, Fold 8 Ultra, or Galaxy Z Flip 8 won’t have to wait for their first update. Samsung has already published a day-one maintenance package weighing in at roughly 637 MB over Wi-Fi.
This update focuses purely on system stability rather than adding flashy features. It keeps the foldables on One UI 9.0 over Android 17 and carries a June 5, 2026 security patch level—placing the brand-new foldables slightly behind older hardware like the S23 series, which received July patches earlier.
The update is currently live for unlocked models alongside AT&T and T-Mobile in the US, as well as in Korea. Verizon and international regions in Europe, India, and Australia are scheduled to receive it shortly.
