
When it comes to smartphone prices, we’re constantly getting bad news. This one is no different. It seems like Samsung will make all of our phones more expensive, basically.
How is that possible? Well, the memory crisis is the main reason why phones are getting more expensive, and based on a new report, Samsung is now aiming for another round of price hikes for mobile DRAM and NAND flash chips.
Samsung could incrase prices for its memory chips and thus make smartphones even more expensive
SamMobile shared the news, though the source in Korea was not named. Either way, the information is coming from Samsung’s homeland. It is claimed that Samsung wants to raise prices for these mobile DRAM and NAND flash chips supplied to global smartphone OEMs.
Samsung is allegedly looking to renegotiate supply prices with the aim of seeking an additional 7-10% increase on the current prices. Mind you, the current price tags are already at a record high, so… any sort of price bump will be a new record.
Do note that the price hike includes Samsung’s very own mobile division, it seems. Samsung is aiming to increase prices for the entire Galaxy S26 series starting next month, in Korea first. Other markets will likely follow.

Many smartphone manufacturers were already forced to increase price tags for its devices. It seems like further increases could be in tow. It is unclear when the situation will settle down, but that won’t happen this year.
A 7-10% price bump for DRAM and NAND flash chips is quite significant in the general scheme of things. It could cause yet another round of price increases across the smartphone industry.
Do note that this information is not yet official, and SamMobile didn’t even note the source in Korea that shared the report. So, for the time being, we can be optimistic, even though it seems like it’s happening.
