Samsung and its Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 are suspected to make an appearance alongside the Galaxy Watch 9 series at the upcoming Summer Unpacked event that the company holds every year, and while the design will be shown off at that event if Samsung does in fact reveal it, the design has reportedly popped up well ahead of time thanks to a leak.
When Samsung initially released the original Galaxy Watch Ultra, the design was somewhat controversial because it moved away from the usual round watch case. Instead, Samsung chose to go with something that had a squircle shape, almost mimicking that of the Apple Watch Ultra series. Some fans loved it and some fans hated it. But apparently more than enough people loved it for Samsung to keep the design around for the second generation.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 design seemingly hasn’t changed much
Earlier on June 22 leaked images of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 design had popped up on X via a post from Galaxy Techie, and those images showed off what the watch is now expected to look like. Galaxy Techie’s post has now been deleted, but not before the images were saved and posted elsewhere. The design looks mostly unchanged. It has a similar squircle shape, so Samsung has stuck with the design here. As noted by Android Central, it does look like the bezels have gotten slimmer than they are on the original model.
The thing to keep in mind is that these are not real life images of the watch. They’re merely drawings of what the design supposedly looks like. More accurately, the images look like what Samsung will end up using in its setup guides and such.
Galaxy Techie says the design looks “slightly more boxy” than the original, though it’s pretty hard to tell from just these sketches. So take that part, and this entire design really, with a grain of salt. After all, these are still just rumors until Samsung confirms the design with an unveiling.
