In what OpenAI describes as one of its largest enterprise software rollouts to date, Samsung Electronics is officially integrating ChatGPT Enterprise and the Codex development platform companywide in a big deal. This rollout marks an ambitious pivot toward embedding automation across multiple operational layers, giving thousands of workers access to premium productivity tools.
As Business Korea reports, the agreement immediately covers all domestic Samsung executives and employees based in South Korea. On a global scale, the deployment specifically targets the company’s massive Device eXperience division. This is the branch responsible for household consumer electronics, mobile networks, and Galaxy smartphones.
A dual approach to corporate tasks
The tech giant plans to leverage these virtual assistants to optimize both technical and non-technical business functions. On the administrative and creative side, staff members are using ChatGPT Enterprise to streamline knowledge-based workflows. The app allows teams to analyze complex market metrics, draft standard corporate documentation, parse extensive data pools and brainstorm marketing concepts.
Meanwhile, software engineering teams are increasingly turning to Codex to help manage software engineering cycles. The tool acts as a specialized assistant for writing, debugging and reviewing codes. Interestingly, non-technical teams are also using Codex to build simple internal tools and custom websites without coding knowledge.
This move indicates a sharp rise in regional AI adoption. The Decoder reports that Codex’s weekly active users in South Korea grew around 800% since February. This reflects a rapid cultural shift toward automated environments inside major firms.
Deepening infrastructure ties
To address long-standing proprietary safety concerns, Samsung is running these systems within its strict internal corporate governance frameworks. The approach ensures that sensitive project data remains locked safely away behind advanced enterprise-grade access controls and security protocols.
This deal expands a highly lucrative corporate relationship. Samsung already maintains strong ties with OpenAI as a vital hardware supplier, providing the advanced high-bandwidth memory semiconductors necessary to run OpenAI’s expanding physical data center footprint. Harrison Kim, the General Manager of OpenAI Korea, highlighted that this deployment transforms AI from a specialized tool for isolated tech teams into a fundamental workplace innovation platform.
