Samsung Gallery app has used OneDrive to back up photos and videos since 2019. However, this partnership will come to an end later this year. The OneDrive integration will end on September 30th, as confirmed by both tech giants. While that’s that, it seems like Samsung Gallery has already silently begun ending OneDrive support months ahead of the deadline.
Samsung Gallery is silently ending OneDrive support ahead of the September 30th deadline
The OneDrive sync option is reportedly no longer present in the Samsung Gallery app for users. What’s worse is that there’s been no warning sign. SammyGuru reports that the sync option no longer appears for users who haven’t previously enabled it in the newer version of the Gallery app. This means users who haven’t used the feature previously can no longer enable it.Â
That said, existing users (those who have it enabled) can apparently continue using the service until the deadline. So nothing is changing for them until September 30th. This should give them enough time to plan their migration from OneDrive. Although Samsung Gallery is ending OneDrive support, users can still use it to back up media.

Existing users can keep using the service
Both Microsoft and Samsung have confirmed that the synced photos and videos will not be deleted even after September 30th, allowing you to access them whenever you want. But you can only do so via the OneDrive app or website. You’ll no longer see them (photos and videos) in the Gallery, unless you have the original file saved on your phone. The Samsung Gallery app will no longer pull the files stored in the cloud.
You have the option to download the files from OneDrive before the September 30th deadline. As for what lies ahead, there are speculations on the web that the South Korean tech giant may revive the Samsung Cloud service as the primary backup solution for Gallery users. It remains to be seen whether this pans out in reality.
