Amidst rolling out the first One UI 9.0 beta to a bunch of Galaxy devices in the last few days, Samsung is pushing a new software update to its latest clamshell-style foldable. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 has received an update that apparently focuses on improving security. This essentially rules out any new features if you’re looking for them.
Samsung releases a new security update for the Galaxy Z Flip 8, but it’s not September’s patch
The update is now rolling out in South Korea and carries the firmware version F776NKSS2AZH8. It’s not clear when this will expand to other global regions at the moment. But as always, it should happen over the next few days. According to the official changelog, the update improves the device’s security against any vulnerabilities present in the previous version.
However, despite rolling out in September, the update does not include this month’s security patch. Instead, the device remains on the August 2026 security patch. It’s believed that the update may contain minor bug fixes related to security.
Still on the August 2026 security patch
If you’re a Galaxy Z Flip 8 owner, you can check for the update by going to Settings > Software update > Check for updates. Ensure you’re on a stable Wi-Fi network and have at least a 30-40% battery charge so the update process doesn’t stop in the middle.Â
Regarding the September 2026 security patch, with the month only just starting, Samsung will start pushing the update to eligible Galaxy devices within the next few days, if not weeks. The update will include a mix of Samsung-specific fixes and patches from Google. These will address vulnerabilities with varying levels of severity. Some are high priority and some are medium. Either way, we will share an update about it as and when the rollout begins.
