The Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra appears to be making the rounds with different certification bodies around the world. The latest one is at BIS. This indicates that the launch isn’t that far off. However, I would not expect to see it launch at Unpacked next week.
The listing indicates that this is the SM-X940 and SM-X946B models, for WiFi and 5G variants. As usual with BIS, it does not give us any specifications for the new tablet, but there are rumors that it will sport the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset. This would mark the third year in a row that Samsung is using MediaTek only for its flagship tablets.
We’re expecting mostly the same specs as its predecessor, with some changes to the processor and RAM. But that would include a 14.6-inch QHD+ display, with the Dimensity 9500 chipset. Though it is possible that it could end up with the 9500+, as Samsung has done with the Tab S11 Ultra last year. It’ll also sport 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage to start, with options for up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Of course, those will come with some pretty heavy premiums.
Likely to launch at IFA
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is expected to launch in September, likely around IFA. Last year, Samsung did launch the Galaxy Tab S11 series with the Galaxy S25 FE at IFA, so there is precedent here.
IFA, which stands for Innovation For All, is the big fall tech show in Berlin every September. This is where a lot of companies announce products that they want to get on the shelves in time for the holiday season. Which, surprisingly, starts pretty soon after IFA. Samsung doesn’t typically have a major mobile presence at IFA, though they did announce a few devices at the show last year.
