Earlier this month, Samsung began rolling out the May 2026 security update for the Galaxy phones. Surprisingly, the South Korean tech giant initially released the new firmware for the budget Galaxy A series offerings, even before the flagship models. Now, the company has released the May 2026 Android security update for the Galaxy S25 flagship series.
Samsung releases the May 2026 security update for the Galaxy S25
According to user reports on X, Samsung has rolled out the May 2026 Android security update for Galaxy S25 users in India initially. The new software carries the firmware number S93xBXXS9CZE1 and tips the scale at around 550MB in size.
Samsung has released the new update over the air in stages, so not all Galaxy S25 users will receive it right away. You can manually check for the update by going to your phone’s Settings > Software update > Download and install.
The update fixes as many as 36 security issues
The Galaxy 25’s new software doesn’t bring any major visual or feature changes. However, it fixes up to 36 security issues, which Samsung detailed earlier this month. The new firmware fixes two critical security vulnerabilities. Additionally, the latest software comes with fixes for 30 CVEs (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures). Google has fixed all these issues.
As for the other updates, Samsung recently released the stable One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy S25 series devices. The new build arrived with some visual changes and features. Users may need to install this update to receive the May 2026 security update.
Samsung is now actively working towards releasing the One UI 9.0 update, which is based on Android 17. It is currently testing the new software in beta on the Galaxy S26 series flagships. However, the company could expand the availability of the beta firmware to the Galaxy S25 users soon.
