Recent firmware discoveries show Samsung actively testing One UI 9.5 on both the current Galaxy S26 series and unreleased hardware for next year.
Simultaneous testing on the Galaxy S26 and the unannounced S27 Ultra
Tipster Fahad Ali Javed first spotted evidence of One UI 9.5 on Samsung’s test servers in early August. The first build (numbered AZH3) was linked to model SM-S958U, the expected identifier for the unannounced Galaxy S27 Ultra. Just a week later, reports mentioned a second One UI 9.5 build (ending in CZH1), this time assigned to the existing Galaxy S26 lineup (via Tarun Vats).
Developing software on two hardware tracks at once is standard procedure for Samsung, but the timing stands out. Internal work on last year’s One UI 8.5 did not kick off until mid-September. Starting One UI 9.5 testing a full month earlier suggests that public beta builds for current S26 owners could arrive well ahead of the typical December timeline.
What the software timeline means for Galaxy users
Samsung follows a predictable cadence for software updates:
- Major Android Releases: One UI 9.0 debuted alongside Samsung’s latest foldables and is currently expanding through a beta program to the Galaxy S26 series before reaching older flagships.
- Mid-Cycle “.5” Refinements: One UI 9.5, performance tuning, expanded Galaxy AI capabilities, and new ecosystem features.
- Launch Targets: Samsung builds the “.5” software version primarily for its next flagship line, meaning the Galaxy S27 series will likely ship with One UI 9.5 installed out of the box in early 2027, with Galaxy S26 models receiving the update shortly after.
As usual, everyday users will have to wait a bit longer for a public beta release. Still, this accelerated schedule highlights Samsung’s goal of streamlining software delivery across both present and future devices.
