GTA 6, the next upcoming game from Rockstar Games, has not been immune to leaks despite Rockstar’s efforts to keep situations like this from happening. Just months away from the game’s official release on November 19, and just a little over a week away from the game’s extended look trailer that’s hitting Netflix this Friday, video clips of the game had started to leak out on the internet showing a variety of different gameplay scenarios. The leaks come from a group called CyberLeeks, which has been taking polls on what to leak next, and has been criticized for using these leaks to hawk cryptocurrency meme coins based on their name.
It was initially suspected that these clips were leaks of old builds of the game that could have been recorded clips from devs, but that is now being suspected to not be the case. More and more leaked videos have surfaced with each passing day since they started, and each new leak has revealed something new. One from a few days ago revealed CyberLeeks shooting at a wall in the game to spell out the word “Leeks” which implied that this group (or person) had a playable build of the game and were actively playing it live. Rockstar’s worst nightmare. Online discourse about these leaks has led many to ask why Rockstar hadn’t responded publicly to these incidents. That changed on August 26.

The leaks, according to reports of CyberLeeks’ claims, started because the group was fighting for gamers rights and this whole thing has been to punish Rockstar and Take-Two for refusing to release disc copies of the game for consoles. Whatever the reasons, Rockstar didn’t immediately respond.
However, the studio finally put out an official statement about the leaks on the morning of August 26. The studio said that it would be an understatement to say that the leaks of GTA 6 gameplay coming out in the past week are heartbreaking to the development team.
Rockstar ended its statement by saying that it hopes players will wait a bit longer to experience the game for themselves on launch day, despite the unfortunate nature of potential story spoilers that could impact the gameplay experience.
