Today, Qualcomm is loading up the hype machine ahead of Snapdragon Summit and sharing some info on the Oryon CPU that will power Qualcomm’s next flagship chip(s).
The big selling point is that this will be the first mobile CPU to reach 5GHz, allowing Qualcomm to call it “the world’s fastest mobile CPU” again this year. This new Oryon CPU is “paired with strong IPC to deliver responsive real-world performance across apps, gaming, content creation, and agentic AI,” according to Qualcomm.
Qualcomm is also debuting ‘FlexCache’ which is a “new cache architecture that allows heterogeneous cores to access the same dynamically allocated cache pool”. This will help large working sets to stay resident instead of spilling to memory. FlexCache is a product of us asking our phones to do more than ever before. We’re no longer asking our phones to do a single task; it’s a request that turns into a plan, and that plan moves across the entire CPU. This 5GHz Oryon CPU will make your phone future-proof, at least for a few years.
The new Snapdragon chip will include two Prime Cores at 5GHz and six performance cores, though Qualcomm has not yet disclosed clock speeds for those.

Snapdragon Summit 2026 will take place from September 22 through September 24, once again from Maui. This is where Qualcomm typically announces its flagship mobile chip that you’ll see in virtually every flagship Android phone over the next year. Sometimes, Qualcomm also includes another chip; for instance, last year it announced the Snapdragon X2 Elite set of chips.
