We have a new comparison on our hands, and it’s between devices from Google and Samsung. These two phones are actually on a similar level as far as price is concerned, and both are considered to be mid-range phones. This is a Google Pixel 10a vs Samsung Galaxy A57 comparison. The Google Pixel 10a was announced back in February, while the Galaxy A57 followed in March.
There are quite a few differences between these two phones. Their designs are notably different, and the same goes for their internals as well. We’ll first list the specs of both phones, as we usually do. Following that, we’ll compare their designs, displays, performance, battery life, cameras, and audio output.

Google Pixel 10a vs Samsung Galaxy A57: Design
As you can see, both phones have flat displays with a centered display camera hole up top. That camera hole is smaller on the Galaxy A57, though. The same goes for the bezels around the display. They’re uniform on both phones, but they’re noticeably thinner on the Samsung Galaxy A57. The corner curvature is similar on the two phones, as the corners are quite rounded, not sharp.
Both devices have frames made of aluminum, and they’re flat. The Pixel 10a includes its power/lock key on the right side, above the volume up and down keys. The Galaxy A57, on the other hand, includes a power/lock key on the right side as well, but below the volume up and down buttons. The Pixel 10a comes with a plastic backplate, which is flat. The Galaxy A57 also includes a flat backplate, but it’s made out of glass.
You’ll notice that the camera setups are also different on these two phones. The Pixel 10a has two horizontally aligned cameras in the top-left corner, which are flush with the phone’s backplate. The Galaxy A57 includes three vertically-aligned cameras in the top-left corner. Those cameras sit on top of a camera island, which does protrude a bit. Both phones are IP68 certified for water and dust resistance, and both are quite slippery. The Galaxy A57 is taller, wider, and thinner in comparison, while it’s also lighter despite the fact it has a notably larger display.
Google Pixel 10a vs Samsung Galaxy A57: Display
The Google Pixel 10a features a 6.3-inch P-OLED display, which is flat and which supports HDR content. That panel has a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is around 84%, while the resolution is 2424 x 1080 pixels. The display aspect ratio is 20:9, while the Gorilla Glass 7i protects the panel.

The Samsung Galaxy A57, on the other hand, has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ display. That display is flat, and it has a 120Hz refresh rate. The resolution is 2340 x 1080 pixels, and HDR10+ content is supported. The peak brightness here is 1,900 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is around 89%, while the display aspect ratio is 19.5:9. Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus+ protects the display.
Both of these displays are good. They’re vivid, have good viewing angles, and have good touch response. The Pixel 10a’s panel does get a bit brighter, while both are sharp enough. It’s a shame neither uses LTPO tech, but that’s not something you’ll notice. They both have good display protection as well. These two displays are actually quite good, and not many people will have complaints.
Google Pixel 10a vs Samsung Galaxy A57: Performance
The Google Tensor G4 processor, a 4nm chip, fuels the Pixel 10a. That is not Google’s flagship processor, but the model that came before it. It’s made by Samsung, not TSMC. That chip is backed by 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and UFS 3.1 flash storage is used. The phone does not support storage expansion, though.
The Samsung Galaxy A57, on the flip side, is fueled by the Samsung Exynos 1680 processor. That’s a 4nm chip as well, and it’s backed by 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Samsung also opted to use UFS 3.1 flash storage here. Do note that the storage here is not expandable either, so make sure to buy the variant that has enough storage for your needs.
Both of these phones offer good performance, but don’t expect them to be on the same level as flagship phones. Neither company used the latest RAM or storage, while these chips are more mid-range than flagship offerings. In day-to-day performance, they do a good job, and they can also run games. If you plan on running very demanding games, these are definitely not the best options, though. Still, they offer good performance overall.
Google Pixel 10a vs Samsung Galaxy A57: Battery
The Google Pixel 10a includes a 5,100mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy A57, on the other hand, has a 5,000mAh battery. Neither of those two batteries are silicon-carbon units, hence the battery capacities. Do note that the Galaxy A5 has a notably larger display of the two, and yet it has a slightly smaller battery. The battery life is actually rather similar between the two phones, but the Pixel 10a does have the edge.
From what we’ve seen, the Pixel 10a does come out in front, a bit. The difference is not that big, however. Both phones offer decent battery life, but they cannot compete with many phones out there that have adopted silicon-carbon tech. Still, the battery life these two phones offer will be enough for most people. If you’re a power user, however, you will likely have to charge them before the end of the day.
The Google Pixel 10a supports 30W wired, 10W wireless, and bypass charging. The Samsung Galaxy A57, on the other hand, supports 45W wired charging. It takes the Pixel 10 about an hour and a half to fully charge, while the Galaxy A57 can be charged in about an hour and 10 minutes. Do note that you’ll need compatible chargers to get there, as neither phone ships with a charger.
Google Pixel 10a vs Samsung Galaxy A57: Cameras
There are two cameras on the back of the Pixel 10a. The main camera is a 48-megapixel unit with an f/1.7 aperture and a 1/2.0-inch sensor size. That camera supports dual pixel PDAF and OIS. The second camera on the back of the phone is a 13-megapixel ultrawide unit with an f/2.2 aperture, 1/3.1-inch sensor size, and a 120-degree FoV.

The Samsung Galaxy A57, on the other hand, has three cameras on the back. The main camera is a 50-megapixel unit with an f/1.8 aperture and a 1/1.56-inch sensor size. That camera supports PDAF and OIS. There is also a 12-megapixel ultrawide unit (f/2.2 aperture, 1/3.06-inch sensor size) and a 5-megapixel macro camera (f/2.4 aperture).
Both phones do a good job with their main snappers. The images end up more contrasty on the Pixel 10a, but both do a good job in all lighting conditions, even though they can’t compete with the best out there. The ultrawide snappes are alright, but a level below the main cameras, and they don’t exactly shine in low light. That macro camera on the Galaxy A57 is… well, not great. Smartphone OEMs should probably avoid 2MP and 5MP macro cameras and stick to telemacro. It’s usable in very good lighting only.
Audio
Both of these smartphones have stereo speakers. Those speakers are loud enough, even though they’re a level below the very best out there. The sound output quality is good enough on both phones.
Neither phone has an audio jack, though. You can utilize their Type-C ports if you want, in case you’d like to connect your wired headphones. Alternatively, Bluetooth 6.0 is supported by both phones.
