Oura has officially announced the Oura Ring 5, making a massive leap forward in the smart ring market by delivering its most compact and advanced wearable to date. Oura has reduced the physical footprint of its flagship device by a staggering 40% compared to the Oura Ring 4, officially earning it the title of the world’s smallest smart ring.
Building on a lightweight, non-allergenic titanium chassis, the Oura Ring 5 features a completely re-engineered mechanical and optical architecture. Oura has swapped out bulkier internal components for low-profile sensor domes and a smoother curvature designed to feel entirely natural on the finger.
The updated sensor array boasts twelve distinct signal pathways alongside more powerful LEDs, providing cleaner biometric capturing across various skin tones. Because the finger provides a pulse signal up to 100 times stronger than the wrist, this ultra-discreet form factor continues to deliver far more precise health data than standard wrist-worn fitness trackers. This challenges major premium market alternatives like the RingConn Gen 2 Air.

A Massive Software Leap: Health Radar and Connected Care
The dramatic hardware shrinkage doesn’t mean a sacrifice in capabilities. Alongside the new ring, Oura is launching a robust suite of software features, headlined by Health Radar. Developed in collaboration with over 40 in-house physicians, Health Radar tracks blood pressure signals and nighttime breathing patterns in the background to spot cardiovascular strain or sleep disturbances before they become serious health issues.
Furthermore, Oura is expanding into on-demand connected care by partnering with Counsel Health. This collaboration allows users across 43 U.S. states to ask medical questions and receive personalized advice from licensed physicians directly inside the redesigned Oura App.
For those managing metabolic health, a new GLP-1 Insights dashboard lets users aggregate medication dosages, side effects, and weight-tracking data alongside baseline metrics such as Sleep, Readiness, and Activity scores. Additional upgrades launching this June include real-time Live Activity Tracking for workouts and a time-based Data Deletion feature for granular privacy control.
Pricing and Availability
The Oura Ring 5 is available for pre-order starting today, with official shipping kicking off on June 4. Base finishes like Silver and Black are priced at $399, while premium options, including Gold, Stealth, Brushed Silver, and a rich Deep Rose finish, retail for $499. The device will be sold directly via ouraring.com and through major retail channels, including Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart. The required Oura Membership remains at $5.99 per month or $69.99 annually.
