OnePlus announced a new gaming controller for the OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra yesterday. Well, it seems like that gaming controller will not be exclusive for that phone, as it will soon get support for other OnePlus smartphones.
OnePlus’ gaming controller will support more phones starting in June
The name of the controller is the OnePlus Strix G15, and according to the product page description, it only works with the OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra. However, starting in June, it will become compatible with some other OnePlus phones.
The OnePlus Strix G15 will support the OnePlus 15, OnePlus Ace 6, OnePlus Ace 6T, and the OnePlus Turbo 6. So not many of them will be supported, but most importantly, the OnePlus 15 will. It’s a shame the OnePlus 13 is not included on the list.
This is a telescopic controller; it adapts to the size of the device it’s supposed to work with. This is not your regular controller, though, as it does not have a D-Pad, ABXY buttons, or thumbsticks. It has only four buttons, and they’re all on the back of the device.
It comes with a 1,000Hz polling rate and a 1.8ms response time
The OnePlus Strix G15 controller connects to a smartphone via USB-C port. It also has support for passthrough charging, which is great news. It also has a slot for the OnePlus 40W Super Freezing Point Magnetic Cooler, and a built-in antenna to enhance connectivity. This controller comes with a 1,000Hz polling rate and a 1.8ms response time for gaming.
OnePlus’ shiny new controller is priced at CNY449 ($66) in China, and there’s no info on its global release. We’re not even sure it will become available globally.
We do presume that it will be compatible with the global version of the OnePlus 15, though, so importing it could be an option if OnePlus does not end up offering it outside of China.
