The leaks are just coming in regarding the OnePlus 16, which makes us a little jealous here in the US. After OnePlus officially exited North America and Europe. But OnePlus is still putting out flagship phones, with the OnePlus 16 launching this Fall in China. Now, we’re hearing from leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo that the OnePlus 16 will sport a system-wide 165Hz refresh rate. Instead of just in certain apps and games, like it was on the OnePlus 15.
DCS also mentioned that the bezels will be ultra-slim, not as thick as on the Pixel 11 series. In fact, DCS says that the “OnePlus 16 is still the narrowest four-sided among the sub-series flagships”.
This lends credence to earlier reports and rumors that OnePlus would have incredibly thin bezels on the OnePlus 16 this year. OnePlus had also pretty much confirmed that it would use a 165Hz panel once again, as it did with the OnePlus 15 last year. It will also bring some exclusive gaming features to the OnePlus 16, which it teased at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Gaming Technology Awards in July.
OnePlus 16 slated to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Extreme
OnePlus is also slated to use the very latest Snapdragon chipset in the OnePlus 16. This would be the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Extreme, which Qualcomm just confirmed yesterday that it will be a 5GHz processor. It has two 5GHz Prime cores and six Performance cores on board. So this will be an absolute monster of a phone for gaming. Really putting the Tensor G6 in the Pixel 11 series to shame.
The OnePlus 16 will likely launch in October. Since it uses Qualcomm’s latest chip, it will need to wait until after Snapdragon Summit, which is scheduled for September 22-24 in Maui.
