In addition to the Motion Assist feature, there’s also a new feature to collaborate on Google Keep shopping lists within a group chat so everyone can stay up to date on what the list includes and even make edits and suggestions as to what you might need to add.
The latest Android feature drop adds Motion Assist to help relieve your motion sickness
If you get motion sickness when riding in vehicles, whether that be a short car ride or a long cross-state bus trip, the latest Android feature drop actually includes something that can help you get a little bit of relief. It’s a new feature called Motion Assist and as the name suggests, it assists you with motion sickness. The way it works is it places an overlay of floating bubbles on your screen, and these bubbles move across the screen to match the ride’s movement. You can even customize the feature by changing the color, as well as the size and shape of the bubbles.
Collaborate on Google Keep shopping lists right in your group chat
Have you ever been in charge of putting together a shopping list for a group but also end up hitting a few snags because you aren’t sure what all might be needed? The new group shopping list collaboration feature in Android is designed to help with exactly this type of situation. Google Messages is getting a new feature that will let you create shared Google Keep lists right inside the group chat. This way, everyone in the chat can add input on what’s needed.
It’s also possible for everybody and edit the lists so you don’t have to continuously go back and make changes yourself. Google says that this feature is starting to roll out to Google Messages today.
Keep track of your stuff in Find Hub without using tracker tags
Tracker tags that are Find Hub compatible help you keep track of your most important items, but what if you don’t have any more tracker tags to use or what if the thing you’re trying to keep track of can’t really hold a tag? That’s where this new Gemini feature comes in. With the Android feature drop, you’ll be able to ask Gemini to remember where you keep stuff. For example, if you keep an important event invite somewhere and don’t want to forget it, you can ask Gemini to remember that you kept it in a certain spot, and Gemini will add that location and reminder into Find Hub for you. This will only be available where Find Hub and Gemini are supported.
Turn your Google Message chats from boring to fun
Google Messages is getting a second new feature as part of the latest Android Feature Drop, and it’s an ability to customize the way your chats look. There’s a new Chat Themes feature you can access from the Three Dot menu that you add a theme based on several different categories like cityscapes, animals, macro, architecture, and more. You can also choose a color combo to use alongside the actual theme. These chat themes are on a chat-by-chat basis, so each one can have a different theme if you want it to.
Gemini can soon help guide blind and low-vision users with the phone’s camera
The last feature being added with the September Android Feature Drop is called Guided Vision, and Google says it was designed with the intention to assist blind and low-vision users find something they can’t quite locate. The feature is powered by Gemini, and will use the phone’s camera to guide the user to find things. For example, say you’re looking for specific spice on a spice rack. You can ask Gemini to guide you to it, and the camera can give you voice feedback until you find it.
Google says this can also be used to read menus in low-light conditions and even read labels with really fine print. This feature will be coming soon.
