Picture standing on stage in front of a packed tech conference when your phone rings, and the caller ID displays the President of the United States. That exact scenario played out at the All-In Summit in Los Angeles on September 14, giving the audience a front-row seat to an unexpected moment: NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang casually reached into his pocket and pulled out Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Fold 8, unfolding the inner screen to put President Donald Trump on speakerphone live on stage.
An ongoing habit of using Samsung foldables
This impromptu public appearance marks another chapter in the AI executive’s preference for Samsung’s foldable lineup. Back in May, Huang made news when observers spotted him carrying a Galaxy Z Fold 7 during a trip to China. NVIDIA later confirmed the Z Fold 7 was a personal gift from Samsung Electronics Executive Chairman Lee Jae-yong.
Neither company confirmed whether this latest Z Fold 8 was another executive gift or a personal purchase. Still, the connection between both leaders runs deep. Huang and Lee meet regularly to discuss supply chains, high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips, and broader AI infrastructure. In fact, following their meeting in San Francisco this July, both executives are slated to reconnect at an industry gala in New York later this month.
Major visibility ahead of competing launches
For Samsung, having one of the most recognized figures in global technology casually answer a presidential phone call on their flagship device is an unmatched marketing moment. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 launched in August alongside the Fold 8 Ultra and Flip 8. Seeing it now in the hands of NVIDIA’s chief provides serious real-world validation right as competing foldables enter the market.
The collaboration between NVIDIA and Samsung stretches back three decades. It has evolved from early graphics hardware to modern AI data center components. While tech executives rarely endorse products outside official press releases, Huang’s live demonstration of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 offered an authentic peek into what Silicon Valley’s top leadership carries every day.
