Monster Hunter has been on mobile devices for quite some time with all the different game variations, most recently with Monster Hunter Outlanders, and now it looks like Monster Hunter Rise will be coming to mobile via Netflix. Netflix has been no stranger to the mobile gaming space with its push into it through the app on Android and iOS devices.
This wouldn’t even be the first time that a big AAA game was thrown into the mix, as Netflix offered a collection of mainline GTA titles for a time. However, what makes this release unique is that Monster Hunter Rise is a fairly recent game. It was launched on the Switch in 2021, PC in 2022, and PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2023, when it also launched for GeForce NOW. It wasn’t some old GTA game from the PS2 era, which was more than 20 years ago. On top of that, Monster Hunter Outlander just launched, so Capcom will have two big MH releases that could be competing for player retention and traffic.
Monster Hunter Rise will come to Android and iOS exclusively through Netflix
Netflix has done this before with other games so this is nothing new for the company. When it becomes available for all, you’ll need a Netflix subscription to install the game on your phone or tablet. That being said, the game is currently only available in certain regions. What’s more is that there’s no indication which regions exactly those would be.
It’s not available in the US at the moment. With regard to the game, this is the full version of Monster Hunter Rise, but it has been adapted to play more seamlessly on touchscreens, with each weapon having its own control layout. Touch controls aren’t required to play though and native controller support is included. It’s not clear when this roll out to every region the Netflix app is available, or where the game will pop up next.
