Google app’s search bar has been redesigned as part of a fresh UI rollout, bringing some notable changes. There are now proper labels for the Nano Banana and Search Live buttons. This comes as the company has been making several UI changes to its apps, including Phone and Messages. Here’s everything new with the Google app.
Google app’s redesigned search bar is now rolling out
The latest version of the Google app brings changes to the search bar on the app’s home page. The screenshots shared by Android Authority show that the search bar itself is now slightly slimmer. It has a white background and a subtle border. There’s now a ‘plus’ icon on the left for users to attach images and files, create new images with Nano Banana, or switch models for the AI Mode. It keeps the microphone and Google Lens icons on the right.
The Google app now has labels for Nano Banana and Search Live buttons present below the search bar. The former is labeled “Create,” while the Search Live button is labeled “Talk.”

That said, the Google app already allows users to upload an image or file. But you’ll have to tap the main search bar on the home screen to see the plus icon. While this option is still reportedly available, bringing it to the main search bar makes it easier to upload, as it removes one extra step from the process. It could also help more users discover the ability to add attachments.
That’s about all the changes this update brings. The redesigned search bar and button labels are reportedly rolling out with v17.65.17 of the Google app. The changes seem to be widely available, but if you don’t see them yet, just wait a while; the update should arrive.
