Google has one of the most robust cloud infrastructures. It is the reason why OpenAI recently partnered with the company to use its cloud network. And now, the social media giant, Meta, has struck a deal worth $10 billion with Google to use its cloud network and services.
Meta signs $10 billion deal with Google to use its cloud network
As per the report shared by Reuters, Meta has reportedly signed a deal worth $10 billion with Google. The information related to the agreement was shared by a confidential person related to the matter. Their name is not disclosed yet, and understandably so, for obvious reasons.
Google had earlier signed an agreement with OpenAI to share its advanced cloud network with the firm. However, details related to the monetary exchange were not revealed. Meanwhile, as for the current agreement with Meta, Google has agreed to share its Cloud servers’ storage, services, and networking with the social media giant.
The deal is part of Meta’s plan to expand AI data centres
Meta is currently mad about the AI. It wants to become a strong AI-based firm, and it is spending millions and billions of dollars to achieve this. The CEO of the firm, Mark Zuckerberg, had recently said that “the company is ready to spend hundreds of billions of dollars to build several massive AI data centres.”
The current deal is not directly related to the company’s plan to build AI data centres. However, it does help with the expansion of the AI cloud network through third-party servers.
It looks like the AI is growing at an unprecedented rate. OpenAI and Meta both have signed deals to use the cloud network of Google for their AI businesses. And there can’t be a bigger indicator than this to confirm the rapid growth of the sector.
