LG has announced the Ultragear evo GM9, its newest gaming monitor meant to cater to those who don’t want to compromise on the resolution or the refresh rate. With the Ultragear evo GM9, you can apparently have both, as it offers both 5K and 2K resolution options. As you might have already guessed, the 2K mode enables a significantly higher refresh rate. So, you could bump things down to 2K when you want to play games that benefit from a refresh rate like this, such as Counter-Strike 2.
If you’re playing something much more cinematic, like Black Myth: Wukong, Pragmata, or Crimson Desert, you can opt for the 5K mode and really take advantage of those beautiful game worlds. The LG Ultragear evo GM9 is powered by Hyper Mini-LED technology, and LG says it was designed to deliver ultra-high brightness, among other things.
The LG Ultragear evo GM9 can upscale games to 5K using AI
If having a 5K gaming monitor wasn’t enough, the Ultragear evo GM9 also has the capability to upscale games to 5K using AI. LG calls this 5K AI Upscaling, and the company says this allows users to enhance game visuals without trying to squeeze out more performance from their GPUs or gaming setups.
When the monitor is in 5K mode, the refresh rate is set at 165Hz. This is plenty for most games, and it’s even more than suitable for competitive games. However, if you want as much refresh rate as possible, lowering things to 2K will bump the refresh rate up to 330Hz.
The monitor also offers several connectivity options with HDMI 2.1, USB-C with 90W power delivery, and of course, DisplayPort 2.1. This is also a 27-inch display that supports VESA Display HDR 1000, and delivers a peak brightness of 1,250 nits. The monitor retails for $1,199.99, and it’s available for pre-order directly from LG.
