We’re a few months from September, which is when Apple is expected to announce the iPhone Ultra. Now, new photos of the iPhone Fold dummy unit have surfaced, showing off more of its design. And also, potentially its only color option.
iPhone Fold dummy unit shows off design
These photos were shared on X by tipster Sonny Dickson, and the post shows off the design of the iPhone Fold, albeit dummy units. This means that this isn’t the actual device, but rather a physical mockup of it. To be fair, there isn’t anything new here that we haven’t seen before. However, Dickson did mention something interesting in his post.
According to the tipster, white might be the only color option Apple plans to offer. That’s a bit different from what we previously heard, which is that Apple could offer it in black or white. We didn’t expect Apple to offer the phone in a multitude of colors. However, having only one option seems a bit strange.
But then again, the rumored price of the phone means Apple probably doesn’t expect to move as many units compared to the regular iPhone. So, having more SKUs doesn’t make sense, at least for the first-gen model.
What the leaked photos tell us
That being said, if it’s your first time seeing the iPhone Ultra, these dummy units are essentially the same as we’ve seen in the past. Apple’s approach to foldables will be different from other companies like Samsung, whose foldables in the past felt more like square-shaped devices.
Instead, Apple is opting for a more tablet-esque shape when the device is unfolded. However, this means that the cover display is considerably smaller than any iPhone Apple has launched in recent years. The upside to this is that we imagine it makes it easier for developers to port iPad apps over.
As for pricing and availability, we’re hearing it could cost close to $2,000. It will be announced in September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, but its actual availability might be pushed towards the end of 2026.
