The iPhone 18 series is not even here yet, but we’re already seeing rumors about next-generation models, presumably the iPhone 19. A new rumor now says that Apple is testing an iPhone 19 Pro prototype with a quad-curved display. Well, that’s a big shift from the current flat OLED panels the company uses for its iPhones.
Apple is reportedly testing an iPhone 19 Pro prototype with a quad-curved display
Digital Chat Station says that the 2027 Pro devices will feature a display that curves around all four edges. The devices are apparently in the evaluation stage right now. He adds that the device has a hole-punch cutout in the display for the front camera. However, the Face ID will hide under the panel. Interestingly, multiple recent reports suggested that Apple is aiming to launch a 20th anniversary iPhone in 2027 with a quad-curved display and no cutouts.
Currently, it’s not clear whether this model will sit above the iPhone 19 Pro. But the comments from the leaker seem to imply that might be the case. Either way, if Apple does use quad-curved panels on both the iPhone 19 Pro, it may be harder to make the rumored 20th anniversary iPhone stand out.
The lineup will debut in 2027
It’s possible the tech giant could differentiate them by keeping the display with no cutouts exclusive to the 20th anniversary iPhone, while leaving the punch-hole design to the iPhone 19 Pro models, which is what the leaker seems to be suggesting. However, Apple is reportedly facing challenges in getting both the Face ID system and the front camera under the panel. The front camera, especially, seems to be proving to be the most difficult to hide.Â
If hiding the camera under the display would reduce quality, Apple is unlikely to proceed with it. Either way, since this is just a leak, it’s better to take it with a pinch of salt, for now.
