Every year, Apple releases a new iPhone color unique to that particular generation. For the iPhone 17 Pro series, we got Cosmic Orange. According to the rumors, the iPhone 18 Pro series will get a “Dark Cherry” finish. We’ve seen the leaked dummy units and renders that show off slightly different shades. But now, according to Fixed Focus Digital, the iPhone 18 Pro Dark Cherry will be the darker version.
iPhone 18 Pro Dark Cherry will be darker
Now, we’ve come across various renders and dummy units of the iPhone 18 Pro series. Some of them show off the phone in a darker, more purple hue, while some suggest a brighter red finish, almost like a maraschino cherry and less like a fresh one. There are several potential reasons for the discrepancy.
For one, lighting. Maybe the dummy units were taken under harsh light, which could make it look brighter than the actual finish. Secondly, maybe whoever created the dummy unit didn’t bother to try and color match it precisely. Both explanations are plausible, but Fixed Focus Digital claims that the Dark Cherry iPhone 18 Pro leans towards the darker finish.
While we can’t confirm if their claim is true, we are slightly relieved. This is because the dummy units that show a bright red kind of look garish. If this was a color used for the base iPhone 18 or the iPhone 18e, maybe. But given that Apple usually gives its “Pro” models a more “serious” look, it didn’t quite fit.
Needless to say, you should take this with a grain of salt. Apple will most likely announce its new iPhones next month, so we won’t have to wait much longer to see which of the rumors are true.
Hopefully Apple address QC issues
When the iPhone 17 Pro series launched, many were quick to discover QC-related issues with the phone’s finish. Some users discovered that the phone’s orange finish turned to rose gold. There were also reports that the phones seem to scratch quite easily. We’re hoping Apple addresses these issues with the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.
However, a report from June suggests that Apple might actually continue using the same construction as the iPhone 17 Pro. This means that whatever QC issues were in the iPhone 17 could be carried over to the iPhone 18. Fingers crossed that it won’t.
