Counterpoint Research has just shared a new report, which lists the 10 best-selling smartphones in the world for Q1 2026. Surprising nobody, one of Apple’s iPhones took the first spot on the list, and the following two.
The Apple iPhone 17 was the best-selling phone in Q1 2026
To be more accurate, the Apple iPhone 17 was the best-selling smartphone in the world for Q1 2026. That phone alone managed to take 6% of the market in the first quarter of the year.
Percentages for all the other devices were not mentioned, but the source did say that the top 10 phones together managed to grab 25% of the smartphone market. That’s quite a feat, needless to say.
Two other Apple devices made it to the top 3
In any case, the Apple iPhone 17 is followed by the iPhone 17 Pro Max and the iPhone 17 Pro, as you can see below. After three phones from Apple, there are two from Samsung. Fourth and fifth place belong to the Galaxy A07 4G and Galaxy 17 5G, Samsung’s budget offerings.

In sixth place, there is another phone from Apple, and the last on the list from the company. It is the Apple iPhone 16, the base model from 2024. It is followed by three devices from Samsung: the Galaxy A56, Galaxy A36, and Galaxy A17 4G.
Xiaomi managed to squeeze itself onto the list
The last spot on the list belongs to a phone from Xiaomi, the Redmi A5, another budget device. Xiaomi managed to squeeze itself onto this list, barely, it seems.
You’ll notice that not a single high-end smartphone from Samsung is listed here; there are no Galaxy S series phones here. The source did say that the Galaxy S26 Ultra narrowly missed the top 10 list. Apple has the only high-end phones on the list. Apple claimed four spots here, Samsung five, and Xiaomi one.
Counterpoint Research said that the iPhone 17 “continues to outperform its predecessor owing to key upgrades like higher base storage, camera resolution, display refresh rate bringing the smartphone closer to the Pro variants and providing overall value for larger market.”
