If you were a bit slow to pull the trigger on the new iPhone 18 Pro models, pre-orders for the phones are now delayed. Most models are now showing estimated shipping times in October, close to a month after their original release date.
iPhone 18 Pro pre-orders delayed
In many ways, this is good news for Apple. When pre-orders went live the other day, things were looking slower than usual. Typically, Apple has no issues selling out its initial stock within the first hour or so. However, 30 minutes after going live, many models were still showing signs of release day availability.
But according to the latest report, things are back on track for Apple. If you were thinking of picking up the iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max, you can still place your pre-orders, just know it’ll be slightly delayed than usual.
Based on the dates, the iPhone 18 Pro Max seems to be the most affected. All colors and storage configurations currently face an estimated shipping date between October 6-13. As for the iPhone 18 Pro, it’s not too bad. We’re looking at dates between September 29-October 6.
Is demand less than usual?
That being said, we can’t say we’re too shocked that the iPhone 18 Pros aren’t flying off the shelves. There are notable improvements to the phone, such as the 2nm chip and variable aperture camera. But other than that, it still looks and feels very much like last year’s model. Plus, it’s $100 more expensive.
So if customers decide it’s better to hold off on upgrading for now, it makes sense. At the same time, it’s hard to ignore the elephant in the room, which is the new iPhone Duo. All early and initial reactions have been extremely positive. Even though it costs a whopping $2,000, it wouldn’t be surprising if customers are deciding that the iPhone Duo is a better upgrade over the iPhone 18 Pro.
Plus, 2027 is when Apple will introduce its 20th anniversary iPhone. The handset is rumored to feature a major redesign, and with rising prices, some might choose to hold off one more year.
