HTC is still around. While the company is no longer making smartphones, it is still making VR headsets and now AI glasses. Last year, HTC showed off the Vive Eagle AI glasses, and they are finally coming to the US in September.
The HTC Vive Eagle have appeared on Amazon and have a pre-order date of September 1, 2026. The glasses will be available in six configurations of round or square frames, with clear and sun lenses available, and four different colorways. Including Glossy Coffee and Apricot.
Somehow, HTC has managed to keep these glasses fairly light at 48.8g. That’s about the same weight as Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses, which range from 48.6 to 50.8g depending on the frame and size.
HTC has also equipped these glasses with a 12MP ultra-wide FPV camera, which is able to take 3,024×4,032 resolution photos and 1,512×2,016 videos at 30fps. The Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor is powering these glasses, along with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The 235mAh battery should get you around 4.5 hours of battery life too.
Finally, HTC has these rated at IP54 for water and dust protection. Meaning they are not waterproof, but they are definitely splashproof. So a little rain won’t hurt.
Choose your AI
A lot of glasses like the HTC Vive Eagle force you to use their own AI. HTC isn’t doing that. Instead, they are allowing you to choose between ChatGPT and Gemini. Two very good options for users to use AI for voice commands, take notes hands-free, and much more. There’s even audio translation in 13 different languages, in real-time.
Pre-orders for the HTC Vive Eagle are already available on Amazon today, starting at $499. These apparently don’t have prescription lenses just yet; that might change after they are released. Amazon currently shows the ship date as September 1, 2026, which means you’ve got a couple of months before these actually ship.
