HONOR could once again outdo Samsung and Apple in the foldable game with its upcoming ‘wide fold’.
According to leaker Digital Chat Station, HONOR is preparing a new wide-folding foldable smartphone with a 2nm chip. This is likely to be the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series that is being announced in September. It’s also going to have a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.5-inch outer display, with a 200MP large-sensor camera and a periscope lens. DCS also mentions that they are aiming for a 7K++ battery, “aiming for the largest battery capacity among flagship wide-folding folding phones in its class.”

This is just the next wide-fold phone in the wave of wide-folding phones. We’ve already seen a few from OPPO and Google a few years ago, but now everyone seems to be jumping back onto that bandwagon because Apple is rumored to be going the wide route with its iPhone Ultra.
It’s reportedly going to cost around 9,999 Yuan or around $1,470 USD. Which is quite affordable, but the important thing to remember here is that phones are heavily subsidized in China.
The Android Headlines Take
This isn’t a huge surprise; everyone and their dog is working on a wide-folding phone these days, though Samsung is likely going to be first to market with theirs. And HONOR putting in the largest battery is also not a surprise; the Magic V6 already has the largest battery at 6,660mAh (over 7,000mAh in China actually).
HONOR already has the best foldable on the market today in the Magic V6, and we’re expecting that to remain the case with their new wide-folding model. Though it’s unclear when that might launch. Seeing as it’s using a 2nm chip, it may not launch in China until the end of the year, or potentially next year.
