HONOR is all set to introduce its next-gen flagship smartphones, the Magic 9 series, in China later this month. The company could debut the new phones internationally at some point in October. Ahead of the launch, the rumor mill has already leaked quite a few details regarding the upcoming HONOR flagships. Now, a reliable tipster from China claims that the HONOR Magic 9 series could support a massive 500mm teleconverter.
The Magic 9 series could offer an incredible 20.8MP telephoto zoom
According to leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the upcoming HONOR Magic 9 series flagships will support a 500mm teleconverter lens. This lens will enable flagships to offer incredible 20.8x telephoto zoom capabilities. In comparison, the Vivo X300 Ultra, launched earlier this year, supports a 400mm external teleconverter lens, offering a 16.6x zoom equivalent.
Vivo’s X200 Ultra originally debuted support for a 200mm teleconverter lens last year, enabling it to capture high-resolution 8x zoom photos. These optional camera accessories for the Vivo X200 and X300 Ultra are quite heavy. So, we can safely assume that the 500mm teleconverter lens accessory could be much heavier than the other 200mm and 400mm teleconverter lenses.
Here’s what we know about the Magic 9 so far
According to previous reports, the HONOR Magic 9 could feature a 6.36-inch flat OLED display. The smartphone could pack a huge 8,000mAh-class battery in a compact body. The battery will supposedly utilize HONOR’s third-gen Qinghai Lake silicon-carbon technology, making it the largest battery in its segment. We can also expect the device to support higher fast-charging capabilities than its predecessors.
HONOR could power the Magic 9 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which it may pair with up to either 12GB or 16GB of RAM. Rumors suggest the new Magic 9 will offer a pair of 200MP cameras and a 50MP wide-angle lens at the rear. Other specs could include wireless charging and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
