The Home Depot is planning its first location in San Marcos. The $13 million project is slated for the northeast quadrant of I-35 North Frontage Road and McCarty Road, a rapidly developing area near Tanger Outlets San Marcos. The intersection has been the subject of some other major business developments, including a Rooms To Go and the city’s third H-E-B.
Plans show the new Home Depot will span approximately 107,797 square feet, along with a 28,120-square-foot garden center, bringing the total footprint to nearly 136,000 square feet. Construction is expected to begin in September 2026, with completion targeted for August 2027.
As home to Texas State University, San Marcos has seen steady expansion in housing, retail, and infrastructure in recent years, much of it concentrated along the I-35 corridor. Texas State has 44,000 students, the third largest in the state, behind Texas A&M and University of Texas.
