Google Voice’s paid plans were meant for enterprise customers, but the company is now overhauling its offering. So far, we’ve had two main Voice plans: free access for personal accounts and a paid Workspace plan for businesses. Google Voice now offers two new personal paid tiers: Voice Starter and Voice Standard. These let you pay and upgrade to a paid calling experience without a Workspace subscription.
Google Voice’s new paid tiers add call recording and Gemini summaries
While these new paid tiers are aimed at small businesses or “side hustles,” they are available for anyone with a Gmail account. Google notes that these plans offer unlimited calling and texting, and premium features that help individual users “manage clients and scale their businesses.” The Google Voice Starter plan costs $10 per month and provides professional features. We’re looking at three-way calling, seamless call transfers, easy call recording, and desktop phone support.
Additionally, users will also get 24/7 access to Google Voice support. Most importantly, Google promises not to reclaim your number if you leave the service inactive. Then there’s the Standard tier, which offers some extra perks.
Available only in the US
The Google Voice Standard plan has two smart tricks up its sleeve. It can route your calls with “auto attendants,” and there’s Gemini brain. It adds “Take notes for me,” which went official recently. This will transcribe your call, summarize the conversation into key points, and generate action items. This summary will be available in the Google Voice app, and it sends an auto-created Google Doc to your email after a conversation.
This plan costs $20 per month, but the company is offering a 50% discount for the first six months. This brings the price down to $10 for a limited period. These plans are currently available only in the US, but will expand to more countries soon, as per Google.
