Gmail Live is an AI-powered conversational search experience in Google’s email service. It scans your emails to find what you want, like dates for events or meetings, etc. While the feature in general works as expected, it doesn’t let you change voices like you can with Gemini. However, that could change soon, as Gmail Live may add new voices, most of which already exist in Gemini Live.
Gmail Live could soon get new voices from Gemini
While digging through Gmail version 2026.10.05.993506826, folks over at Android Authority were able to activate seven new voices for Gmail Live. These will complement the existing ‘Orbit’ option. These new voices include Pegasus, Capella, Dipper, Orion, Ursa, Vega, and Eclipse.
Some of these names already exist in Gemini Live and are accessible via the settings page in the app. That said, Google isn’t bringing over all voices from Gemini. Glow and Flare voices are missing from the list. There’s always a chance these could be added in future versions.
Additionally, the report was able to discover how users can change voices in Gmail Live. The current interface only has the option to mute/unmute and end buttons at the bottom of the screen. But Google will soon add a new three-dot menu in the top-right corner that includes a Voice settings option. This will open up a bottom sheet that displays all the new voices. Orbit will be the default, of course.
The rollout timeline is not clear
While having more voice options is a welcome addition, it might have a caveat. One of the screenshots shows a warning that changing the voice restarts Gmail Live and users would lose the conversations. So that’s that. Android Authority notes that all voices worked as expected during their testing. That’s a good thing, actually, as it suggests the official rollout may not be far away. But don’t take it for certain just yet.Â
Additionally, the report also mentions they’ve found early signs that voice-changing options may come to the Live experience in Google Keep and Docs apps. But it’s not clear when these features will become widely available.Â
