Google’s addition of the Me Meme feature in Google Photos is a feature that Google initially introduced in early 2026 and like many of Google’s other features recently added to a lot of its apps, Me Meme uses generative AI to come up with the creations that it would spit out for users. Google has now reportedly started quietly wiping this feature off the map by removing any proof of its existence in Google Photos.
If you open the Google Photos app on your Pixel device, Me Meme is no longer a feature that you’ll find within the app like it used to be. When it was there, it was listed under the Creations tab alongside several other options including turning your photos into a sketch, art deco patterns, and taking photos of yourself and turning them into custom enamel pins. These are just a few of the options the Create section allows users access to, which are all still there.
Me Meme was wiped from the Google Photos Support Page since at least May
It isn’t clear when Google actually removed this feature from the Google Photos app, since Google hasn’t officially announced that it was discontinuing its availability. However, Android Authority reports that Me Meme was removed from the Google Photos Support Page list of features since at least May of this year. It was announced at the end of January.
Additionally, any mention of the app has disappeared from the Google Photos source code. So, other than initial images of the feature through the announcement, it’s as if it was never there in the first place.
Google is no stranger to killing off its apps, services, features, and hardware. The Dark Web Report in Google One was axed in early 2026. Google also phased out support of Android Auto for older phones this year.
