The Fitbit Air is now official. It’s essentially Google’s take on the Whoop 5.0, but at a much lower price tag – and no subscription is required. Though Google is gatekeeping a lot of features and metrics behind the new Google Health Premium subscription.
Google is offering the Fitbit Air in a few different colors. The classic and active bands are available in Obsidian, Lavender, Berry, and Fog. The Elevated Modern band is available in Obsidian, Moonstone, and Porcelain colors.
Most of the bands will cost you around $35, which is quite a bit cheaper than what Whoop charges for its own bands.
Google also has a special edition Stephen Curry band, which is $129.99. Now that might sound pricey, but this is because you can only buy it with the tracker, and not separately.
What is the Fitbit Air?
The Fitbit Air is a new fitness tracker from Google that does not have a screen. This has been the new trend with fitness trackers lately. A way for people to still track their fitness, but not be disturbed by constant notifications on their wrist. This is also why the Google Fitbit Air Price is so much cheaper compared to Whoop and even the Google Pixel Watch.
With the announcement of the Fitbit Air, Google also announced that the Fitbit app is getting rebranded to Google Health later this month. Effectively getting rid of the brand ‘Fitbit’ from its software, but continuing to use it for fitness trackers. The app will work on both iOS and Android, as does the Fitbit Air. It will also work with Apple Health, which is really great to see. Especially for those who switch between iOS and Android, it’ll make it easier to switch from one platform to the other.
Pre-orders for the Fitbit Air are open now and will ship on May 26.
