The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is allegedly the name of Samsung’s upcoming wide foldable. Well, specs of that smartphone have just surfaced online, and quite a few details have been shared.
The information comes from Tarun Vats, a tipster. Some of these have been mentioned via rumors before; others, not so much. So, let’s see what the phone will end up offering.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 spec sheet just appeared with plenty of info
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor. 12GB of RAM will be included, and the phone will arrive in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options.
A 7.6-inch QHD+ main Dynamic AMOLED 2X display (4:3 aspect ratio) will be included, along with a 5.5-inch cover Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a QHD+ resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. Both of those panels will offer a 120Hz refresh rate. A 4,800mAh battery is also mentioned, along with Super Fast Charging 2.0 and Fast Wireless Charging 2.0.
The phone is said to measure 123.9 x 161.4 x 4.5mm when unfolded, and 123.9 x 81.9 x 9.7mm when folded. It will weigh 201 grams, the tipster is claiming.
A 50-megapixel main camera (f/1.8 aperture) will sit on the back of the phone, along with a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit (f/1.9 aperture). A 10-megapixel selfie camera will be included on each of the two displays, with an f/2.2 aperture lens.
That is all the information that the tipster shared. For all the rest, we’ll have to wait for more information. This info is quite telling, though.
The Android Headlines Take
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 will have one less camera than the ‘Ultra’ model. Samsung seems to be ready to sacrifice the telephoto snapper. That telephoto snapper is not exactly great on the Fold 7, and it will remain the same on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. So it’s not a big minus, though it’s always useful to have a telephoto camera handy. Personally, I’d prefer a 50-megapixel telephoto camera instead of a 50-megapixel ultrawide one, but it’s a matter of preference.
Other than that, and the not-so-large-capacity battery, this phone does look quite good on paper. Samsung is introducing a new foldable form factor, and it is quite exciting.
