The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are now getting a new update. This is their first update after One UI 8.5. This update does bring the latest security patch to both smartphones.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are getting the May 2026 Android security update
Yes, I’m talking about the May 2026 Android security patch. That update is all about security; there are no new features or bug fixes included here, at least Samsung did not mention any.
The update has started to roll out in South Korea, but as is usually the case, it will spread to many more markets in the coming days. It weighs slightly over 400MB, though the file size could be different in other markets.
What’s included? Well, the May 2026 security update from Samsung delivers 36 security fixes. 30 of those are provided by Google, while the remaining ones come from Samsung. Two are classified as critical, 28 as high importance, and six as moderately important.
Both of them received One UI 8.5 about two weeks ago
As a reminder, both of these smartphones started receiving the One UI 8.5 update about two weeks ago. That update delivered a lot more in terms of changes than this one, as this is a strictly security-related update.
Both of these smartphones arrived back in July last year. We’re around 2 months away from the arrival of their successors. This time around, however, not only will the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 arrive, but Samsung’s first wide foldable as well.
Those devices are expected to launch with Android 17 out of the box, along with One UI 9 on top of it. So we’re in for another major update in the coming months, until then, enjoy in One UI 8.5, and what it brought to the table.
