A tipster, Schrödinger, suggested that Samsung intends to use a 5,500mAh battery inside the Galaxy S27 Ultra. That happened a couple of days ago. Well, that won’t be the case, it seems.
The Galaxy S27 Ultra will not feature a 5,500mAh battery, unfortunately
Ice Universe, one of the best-known and most reliable tipsters around, called out Schrödinger, and basically said the info is not accurate. He said that there is “currently no reliable evidence or credible information suggesting that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will feature a 5500mAh battery.”
He also noted that the aforementioned source has a “history of repeatedly sharing inaccurate information” and that he does not consider him to be a reliable source. Ice Universe shared all that via X.
He said that the shared information is either fabricated or it comes from a misunderstanding of the supply chain. Either way, it seems like the Galaxy S27 Ultra will not have a larger battery than expected.
The Android Headlines Take
So, if this information is inaccurate and we won’t be seeing a 5,500mAh battery, what is expected? Well, the latest seemingly accurate information said that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will include a 5,200mAh battery.
Considering that the Galaxy S26 Ultra and a number of its predecessors use a 5,000mAh battery, this sure is an improvement. It would be very nice to see much more capacity in there, but it’s better than nothing.
As a reminder, the Galaxy S27 Ultra will not be utilizing silicon-carbon tech, unfortunately. So Samsung cannot include a 6,000mAh or a 7,000mAh battery in there; it’s simply not doable. The phone would be too thick.
We do hope that Samsung will finally adopt silicon-carbon tech with the Galaxy S28 series. Chinese OEMs have been doing it for years.
