Most flagship phones are designed to look clean, minimal, and elegant. But if you’re looking for something over the top, Caviar’s got you covered. The company has unveiled its latest offering in the form of the Caviar iPhone 17 Pro with a built-in Geiger counter.
Caviar debuts iPhone 17 Pro with Geiger counter
Now, Caviar is no stranger to wild-looking smartphone designs. So honestly this Caviar iPhone 17 Pro with a Geiger counter sounds ridiculous, but at the same time unsurprising coming from the company.
For those unfamiliar, a Geiger counter is used to measure radiation levels. We’re not sure why the average smartphone user would need to measure radiation levels in their immediate surroundings, but hey, at this price, they’re clearly not targeting your typical smartphone shopper.
According to the company, “A fully functional measuring module with a Geiger-Müller counter is built into the central section of the case, allowing it to detect gamma radiation. The smartphone’s design draws inspiration from professional measuring instruments and radiation monitoring equipment.”
This particular model is priced starting at $13,130 for the base 256GB iPhone 17 Pro. But what are you getting for your money? For starters, Caviar has replaced the glass back on the phone with a titanium shell that houses a Geiger counter. The company has purposely designed it to look like a technical instrument, with exposed screens and thick metal panels. There’s also a red line that runs down the center.
In some ways it’s a bit of a departure from Caviar’s typical smartphone designs, which tend to feature more luxury materials like gemstones. But at the same time, it adheres to the company’s outlandish design.
Pretty much just a redesign
It’s worth mentioning that what you’re paying for is the design and the choice of materials. Under the hood, this is the same iPhone 17 Pro that’s already available in the market. So don’t expect any improvements in terms of performance or functionality.
In the meantime, Caviar has unveiled its own version of the iPhone Ultra. Apple hasn’t officially announced the phone yet, but it hasn’t stopped Caviar from getting ahead of the announcement.
