Caviar has just launched its uber-expensive pair of Meta smart glasses. These glasses feature 24-karat gold accents and an alligator leather case, pushing the price up to $6,130. A far cry from the usual $300-ish that Meta’s glasses cost normally.
These are called the ‘Odyssey’ and are a limited-edition pair of smart glasses arriving at a time when smart glasses are not very popular. While these type of AI glasses are moving into the mainstream right now, many people are not happy about it. And it’s largely to do with the camera on the glasses. Of course, Meta doesn’t have the best track-record with privacy anyways.
But there are going to be plenty of other brands launching smart glasses in the very near future, including Samsung and Google with their partners Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, which should be launching in the next couple of months. As they’ve been saying “this fall”.
Caviar has done it again
Caviar has done this type of makeover for tech for quite some time. Producing much more luxury-looking versions of phones, smartwatches, and now smart glasses. In fact, Caviar has launched several versions of the iPhone 17 Pro Max, for as much as $156,890. Caviar currently has many different options for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, which shows that they do sell, though it’s more likely in the tens or hundreds versus the tens of millions that Apple sells them in.
There is also a 22-karat sterling silver version of the Odyssey that is available to purchase for $6,840, just in case the 24-karat gold offering was not quite expensive enough. These are available in a couple different sizes too, so you can choose the one that best fits your head. As everyone’s head is a bit different, in terms of size.
