AT&T just launched something that should have existed years ago. It’s called Unlimited Day Pass, and it gives any eligible iPad owner 24 hours of unlimited cellular data for just $3. No contract. No subscription. No credit check. And, you don’t even have to be an AT&T customer to use it.
The plan is designed for Wi-Fi + Cellular iPad models with eSIM support, and it marks one of the first major attempts by a U.S. carrier to offer truly on-demand tablet connectivity without any long-term commitment. If you’re on Verizon, T-Mobile, or anyone else, it doesn’t matter. You can still buy a pass.
Setting it up is dead simple. You open the Settings app, tap Cellular Data, and add AT&T Unlimited Day Pass. No Wi-Fi connection or separate app needed. The 24-hour clock starts shortly after purchase. And if you’ve never used it before, the first day pass is complimentary, limited to one iPad per customer.
AT&T is being pretty straightforward about why they built this. Many iPad owners simply aren’t connected to cellular plans, and AT&T wants to give those people the ability to connect their devices anytime, anywhere, without a long-term commitment. Think travel days, airport layovers, camping trips, or that moment when the coffee shop Wi-Fi is completely useless.
This is also part of a broader push from AT&T toward more flexible connectivity. The carrier recently launched a modular Build-A-Plan option for phone customers, and just weeks ago rolled out short-term eSIM plans for international visitors timed to the FIFA World Cup. The pattern is clear — AT&T wants to sell connectivity in smaller, more situational chunks.
AT&T plans to expand Unlimited Day Pass support to other 5G devices, including laptops, drones, and smartwatches, down the line. For now, though, it’s iPad only.
If you’ve got a cellular iPad collecting dust without a data plan, this is worth bookmarking. Three dollars for a day of connectivity is a pretty easy sell — especially when the first one’s on AT&T.
