Atlanta Housing has broken ground on Ariel Place at Bowen, the second phase of an extensive redevelopment program located off present-day Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway. The site, which was once run-down public housing, will now include several phases that will provide new affordable housing.
Atlanta Housing is working with The Benoit Group and McCormack Baron Salazar on the project. The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports that the transformation is backed by a $40 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), as well as more than $530 million in public and private funding.
The $50.2 million 2nd phase includes 112 units. The 112 units will join an additional 151 units included in the redevelopment’s first phase, a $63.6 million project that broke ground in March 2025. The first phase is scheduled to be completed this December, while the second phase is expected to wrap up in January 2028. The long-term redevelopment plan calls for turning the 74-acre site into 2,000 residential units and commercial space.
