ASUS has come to Computex 2026 with some exciting new ROG gear, and that includes a brand-new handheld called the ROG Xbox Ally X20. As the name suggests, and as you can tell from the photo, this is essentially an upgraded version of the ROG Xbox Ally X, but with new and improved components to better fit the push that this is a premium device. Some might even say that this is the version of the handheld ASUS should have released from the beginning to further accentuate the gap between the regular model and the higher-end one.
That aside, the ROG Xbox Ally X20 is both a welcomed improvement and a celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the ROG brand. For the past 20 years, ASUS ROG, otherwise known as the Republic of Gamers, has been pumping out gaming gear for the masses. From motherboards to headphones. You name it, the ROG brand produces it. The ROG Xbox Ally X20 is a culmination of everything that ASUS has learned so far about the handheld space. It’s also applying some of the things that gamers have wanted from the original model. For example, TMR joysticks. These are a lot more resistant to drift and so there’s less of a chance you’ll end up with that issue. Another big upgrade is the display.
The ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X20 comes with an OLED display
If there’s one thing gamers seem to have wanted out of the original ROG Xbox Ally X it’s a better display. Well now they’re getting one with the ROG Xbox Ally X20, which now uses an OLED panel. It’s still 120Hz, so the refresh rate hasn’t changed. But the OLED panel will provide more vibrant colors and deeper black for better contrast. Your games should look amazing while playing them.
It’s also now featuring a 20th anniversary-inspired design with gold accents. You know, for that little extra bit of flashy style. ASUS has redesigned the cooling system so more airflow cycles through the device to keeps temperatures more in check, but other than those details and the design changes, this is still the same handheld. It’s powered by a Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor which is the same as the original model, and it has 24GB of RAM with 1TB of storage.
ASUS hasn’t mentioned a price for this handheld yet, but it will most certainly be more expensive than the regular model. Not only because it comes with an OLED display, but because it comes in a bundle with the newly launched ASUS ROG XREAL R1 gaming glasses.
