The price range of Apple’s very first foldable has seemingly been revealed. This phone, the so-called iPhone Ultra, at least based on rumors, will cost more than $2,000, at least in the US.
The information comes from Mark Gurman, a well-known tipster, who is usually correct about Apple-related information. He did not clarify whether the phone’s starting point will cross that treshold, though, or the phone’s price in general (higher storage options).
The first foldable iPhone will cost more than any other iPhone and break the $2,000 barrier
No matter what way you slice it, this will be the most expensive iPhone in history. The iPhone 17 Pro Max, its most specced-out model with 2TB of storage, costs $1,999. The foldable model will cross that threshold.
If we assume that the phone will start at $1,999, just for the sake of it, its 2TB storage model could cost close to $3,000. If we account for the iPhone 17 Pro Max price tiers, the price of that model would be $2,799.
This phone was long referred to as the iPhone Fold, but Apple will seemingly want to be different in this aspect as well and go for a different name. The iPhone Ultra was recently tipped, and it makes sense.
The iPhone Ultra name kind of makes sense
Apple already has plenty of ‘Ultra’ products out there, including the Apple Watch Ultra, CarPlay Ultra, the M1, M2, and M3 Ultra chips, and more. So, naming one of its iPhones ‘Ultra’ kind of makes sense.
This smartphone is tipped to arrive in September this year, despite some rumors saying otherwise. Mark Gurman himself said there won’t be any delays, that the phone is coming alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
The iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 are tipped to arrive in 2027, not this year. So we will seemingly be getting only three iPhones in September 2026. It remains to be seen.
