Apple Music has been on Android for quite a long time now. However, the app experience has always been inferior compared to the iOS version. The gap has widened even further as Apple introduced new Liquid Glass aesthetics. But in a surprising turn of events, Apple Music’s latest beta update adds Liquid Glass-inspired design on Android, along with a major UI overhaul.
Apple Music on Android gets Liquid Glass design on latest beta update
Apple recently started rolling out the version 7.0 beta of Apple Music to eligible Android users. The new version brings a major design change to the music streaming app. The biggest change is the floating bottom bar with a blur effect. It looks pretty much similar to the iOS counterpart, except for the Liquid Glass effect. The mini-player above the bar has a similar treatment and is no longer attached to the navigation area.
Other parts of the interface have also been adjusted. Page titles and overflow menus now share the same line, while the three-dot buttons have moved into circular containers and are no longer red. The Library section now puts “Edit Pins” and “Edit Categories” under the overflow menu. Artist page has been retouched to match the iOS version with custom fonts, new buttons, and an intuitive layout. The Share button is now placed in the top-right corner.
Settings section and Artist page get a modern look
Further, Apple has changed the Settings page and toggles. The section has been reorganized with clearer grouping, and the toggles have been redesigned to look bigger and more accessible. That’s not all; the Artist page now looks pretty much similar to the iOS version. It gets a new layout with more apparent buttons and custom font support for several artists.
Last but not least, the features are not accessible to all users, as it is still under testing in the beta program. Enrollment for the beta testing is now closed on Google Play, meaning interested users have no option but to wait for the stable release. The tech giant is expected to release new features to stable users in the coming weeks.
