At its annual hardware event, Apple didn’t just launch new iPhones, AirPods, and smartwatches; it also briefly teased the new AppleCare One Family plan. This is a new device protection plan that launches on September 14 and covers every device owned by your family members. Here’s what it brings to the table.
AppleCare One Family plan bundles coverage for the whole family
The AppleCare One Family plan will cost $49.99 per month and covers Apple devices for up to six members in the Family Sharing group. Instead of purchasing AppleCare+ for each device, you can simply opt for this new protection plan. It offers benefits like unlimited repairs and 24/7 priority support from Apple experts. It also covers theft and loss for iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches.
Right after you purchase the AppleCare One Family plan, all the eligible devices in your Family Sharing group, including those that are less than four years old and in good working condition, will be automatically added to the plan at no extra cost. Additionally, it automatically adds any new Apple device you purchase.
The plan costs $49.99 per month
Users will have the option to remove the devices they no longer use. They can do so by heading to Settings > General > AppleCare & Warranty. MacRumors reports the Family plan builds on the AppleCare One individual plan that went official last year. It covers three devices and costs $19.99 per month. It also lets you add new devices for $5.99 per month each.
With the Family plan, Apple says you can make up to six claims per year. The standalone AppleCare+ plan costs $11 per month and allows two claims, while the AppleCare One Individual plan allows three. The announcement comes alongside the launch of the new iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max. The prices start at $1,199 and $1,299, respectively. Meanwhile, the first foldable iPhone starts at $1,999.
