San Francisco-based Anthropic has leased the entirety of AEW Capital Management’s 330 Hudson St. in Hudson Square in a major upsizing of its New York City presence. The 466,000-square-foot space is more than 30 times as large as its existing Manhattan offices, which occupy 15,000 square feet at 155 Sixth Ave. in SoHo.
The artificial intelligence safety and research company also plans to double its local headcount to more than 1,000 employees. “New York is one of the main hubs for how AI is being put to work, and Anthropic is in the middle of it as a technology partner to the financial institutions, media companies, and cultural organizations that help define the city,” Anthropic chief commercial officer Paul Smith said in a statement.
The New York Post reported that the full-building lease is the latest sign that tech giants are embracing the Big Apple as an AI hub.
