Amazon Kids Tablet 11
Buying a tablet for children used to mean picking between a cheap plastic toy or a full-fledged device with zero safety boundaries. Amazon is aiming right for the middle with a new pair of Android-powered Kids Tablets built specifically for different age groups, giving children access to popular apps while keeping parents firmly in charge.
The new models mirror Amazon’s adult Alexa Tablet lineup in two sizes. The 8.7-inch version starts at $229.99 with 64GB of storage and up to 14 hours of video playback. The larger 11-inch model costs $329.99, bumping hardware up to a crisp 2.5K display, 8GB of RAM for smoother gaming, and stylus support for drawing or schoolwork.
Built-in protective cases and controlled Google Play access
Since both models run on proper Android software, children get access to the Google Play Store. Every single download needs approval from a parent first, though. Each tablet ships inside a protective case, offering a chunky soft bumper for ages three and up or a slimmer hard shell with a kickstand for kids six and older featuring characters like Paw Patrol, Barbie, and SpongeBob.
Bundled with each purchase is a free year of Amazon Kids+, packing ad-free shows, books, and games from Disney, LEGO, and Nickelodeon. Amazon is also introducing an AI feature called Storybuilder, which lets kids describe characters and plot twists out loud to build their own illustrated picture books and comics.
Remote management and release dates
Parents can handle daily rules through the pre-installed Parent Dashboard app directly on the tablet or remotely from their own iOS and Android phones. The dashboard lets adults cap screen time, pause the device remotely, and turn on ‘Learn First’ goals that require reading or educational app time before unlocking games.
Pre-orders are live right now, with shipping set for October 14 in the US, Canada, Mexico, and Japan, followed by European store shelves on October 19.
